Perth is blessed with hundreds of kilometres of bike path and a even more plentiful supply of well-designed roads that are safe to ride upon.

About Bike Hire has explored them all and recommends the following:

 

  • Perth Bridges Ridemother and child riding bikes

1 Hour/10km or 1.5 Hours/16 km
Easy ride on flat terrain on Cycle paths around the Swan River, including Swan Bells and beautiful views of city from South Perth. For an extended ride, an additional loop incorporating the Windan Bridge will take you past the classy East Perth Development and beautiful Burswood Lakes with plentiful bird life.

  • Scenic Swan River

2-3 hours, 27 km one way Perth to Fremantle
Nearly the whole of this ride to Fremantle is possible on bike paths.  The Fremantle Train Station gives you the option to train or ferry (with the bike) back to Perth Station and ride the short distance to the bike hire.  A fabulous day tour of exploration in our historic port City.

  • Kings Park Ride

2-4 hours/ 16 - 25km
Explore an icon of Western Australia by bike.  There is an abundance of cycle paths meandering through natural Australian bush land. The exotic plant life on display is only part of this world-renowned attraction.

  • City to the Sea Beach Rides

1.5-2 hours/12-15 km one way Perth to City Beach
Ride to the beach with an option to extend your ride north or south along the beautiful sunset coast. The train line provides the option for an easy return.

  • Upper Swan Ride

2 hours/20km
Follow the Swan River upstream to the historic town of Guildford, near the Swan Valley wine region.  An excellent 10km cycle path from Guildford to the Swan Valley enables exploration of many of the local wineries and attractions in the area. Train line nearby.

  • Sunset Coast Ride

100 km of spectacular coast

Cycle paths hug the Coast with just a few inland detours from Woodman Point in the South, passing through Fremantle, Cottesloe Beach, Scarborough Beach and both Hillarys and Ocean Reef Marina's before eventually arriving in Yanchep to the North. The 14 km section from Marmion to Burns Beach is particularly popular.

  • Mandurah Explorer

Catch the train to Mandurah (45 mins) and explore the Peel region by bike.

  • Canning River Ride

50km one way (full length)
Explore the Canning River region including Masons Landing, Shelley, Deep Water Point, Gosnells Railway Markets and through to Armadale. Train line nearby.

  • Yellalonga Park

A family-friendly 12 km ride in Perths Northern Suburbs

The Yellolonga Park is a great place to explore by bike or on foot. A number of recreation options are provided to make a nice day out for the family. A map is available on the Bikewest web-site.

 

  • Freeway ride

A great training ride on the North/South Freeway system. 100km one way.

This path alongside the Kwinana Freeway is long, straight and flat, ideal for road bike riders. Maps of part of the entirety are available from About Bike Hire, however it is impossible to get lost. A path with only a small number of diversions also leads along the Mitchell Freeway.
